What is circle dance?

Anne Catherine teaching, Stanstead stone circle, 23 June 2012 (112).JPG

Since the dawn of humanity, humans have been dancing in a circle around a fire. At that time, fire was used to keep people warm, to illuminate other dancers, as well as to keep dangerous animals away. The peoples of each continent as well in Africa, in Asia, in Europe, in Oceania as in America have traditional dances which are danced in circle. For millennia, grandparents, parents and children would come together at the end of the day to move together in unison in a circle.

In the circle, there is always a person in front of us to show us the way, then another behind us to follow us or again, someone to our right and to our left to support us and guide us in the dance. No dance experience is necessary. The dance steps will be taught before each dance. Come with the family, come with a friend or come alone. Everyone is welcome. We will dance in a circle, but the fire will be in our hearts. We will dance with the music in concert of the musicians of Spirale. Come travel through time and space by dancing in a circle in community.
